Women's Vision & Voice

"Women are the real architects of society."
~ Harriet Beecher Stowe

"Supporting women is a high-yield investment, resulting in stronger economies, more vibrant civil societies, healthier communities, and greater peace and stability."
~ Hillary Rodham Clinton

"The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world."
~Charles Malik, former president, United Nations General Assembly

"I believe in art that is connected to real human feeling, that extends itself beyond the limits of the art world to embrace all people who are striving for alternatives in an increasingly dehumanized world. I am trying to make art that relates to the deepest and most mythic concerns of human kind and I believe that, at this moment of history, feminism is humanism."
~ Judy Chicago

“Study after study has shown that, when women are fully empowered and engaged, all of society benefits."
~
Asha-Rose Migiro, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General

Women's Vision & Voice

Why Women's Vision and Voice is Important

SpeakArtLoud is committed to supporting women in visioning and voicing their ideas for the future.

We believe that when women have an opportunity to connect with their community and when community members have the chance to hear from women new ideas will emerge.  We all benefit when women share their vision for their future and the future of their community.

Women and Community Development

Women the world over have not achieved equal status with men. Yet research shows that when women are empowered, the entire community benefits. Engaging and empowering women results in healthier, more stable communities.

According to the United Nations, when women have equal access to income, education, work opportunities, and to the community decision-making processes, communities experience:

  • Improvement in the education of children
  • Improvement in the health of children
  • Decrease in infant mortality
  • Reduction in poverty
  • Economic growth
  • Decrease in violent crime

When women are engaged in activities and decision making processes communities are healthier and more stable.

Women in Our Community

We know that women are more likely to be the victims of domestic violence, to live in poverty and to raise children as a single parent. We also know that women are more likely to spend more time caring for children and the elderly and caring for the home and family.  For these reasons, and many others, women often do not have a voice in their community.

SpeakArtLoud believe that every woman, no matter her circumstance, should be offered the opportunity to consider what she would like for her own future and the future of her community.  We also believe that communities will be stronger and healthier when women’s vision is part of the fabric of the community.

SpeakArtLoud works to give women a way to explore and voice their ideas for their future.  SpeakArtLoud believes that women’s vision is essential to the success of communities
